Dayi Design was commissioned by Nanjing Big Red Crayfish to transform a 2,000-square-meter heritage site on the Qinhuai River into a crayfish-themed dining and commercial space. The design balances cultural preservation with contemporary functionality through a striking red steel staircase that connects four historic courtyard buildings. Featuring a blend of traditional forms and modern materials, the project enhances visitor flow, fire safety, and environmental sustainability. By integrating LED displays and repurposed local materials, the space becomes a vibrant landmark that honors its past while activating it for present-day use.
